The chargers to be recalled have a plastic loose cover and could potentially expose its internal components. This may cause electric shocks to users if accidentally touched during use, according to the press statement issued by Nokia.

The chargers, bearing Nokia’s name and manufactured by a third-party supplier, are models AC-3E and AC-3U, made between June 15 and Aug. 9 this year; and AC-4U, made between April 13 and Oct. 25, 2009.

These chargers were mostly sold in Europe and North America, according to Nokia.

So far, there is no incident or injury caused by these chargers.

Users can visit the website chargerexchange.nokia.com to see if their chargers are eligible for exchange and how to get a replacement, the company added.

BEIJING, Oct. 14 — Nokia Corp. says its first 3G-capable netbook will cost 300 U.S. dollars in the United States market with a two-year wireless broadband contract from AT&T Inc.

Nokia’s netbook, the Booklet 3G, will be on sale at Best Buy stores and online on Oct. 22 when Windows 7 launches.

To get the discounted price, consumers have to sign a two-year contract for AT&T’s wireless connection plan, which will cost 60 dollars plus taxes each month. The netbook will also be sold at Best Buy for 599 dollars without the AT&T contract.

The netbook, which has a 10-inch screen and weighs 1.25 kilograms, will run Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system.

Among its features, the Booklet will have an aluminum cover, a GPS navigation chip and a 12-hour battery life.

The netbook market is hot recently; more than 20 million netbooks are expected to be sold worldwide by the end of this year.

“We connected the world’s first billion people through the cell phone. And the next billion will be connected via computing devices like a PC,” said John Hwang, general manager of connected computers at Nokia. nbg_logo

Microsoft to announce Office tie-up with Nokia: report https://guanqun.wang/newsbyguanqun/2009/08/12/microsoft-to-announce-office-tie-up-with-nokia-report/ Wed, 12 Aug 2009 06:04:42 +0000 http://guanqun.wang/newsbyguanqun/?p=308 Continue reading ]]> BEIJING, Aug. 12 — Microsoft Corp. and Nokia Corp. are to announce a deal in New York Wednesday morning, unveiling plans to make Microsoft’s Office suite of software available on Nokia cellphones, media reports said Wednesday.

The alliance between the world’s largest software company and the world’s biggest manufacturer of cellphones would help Microsoft play a broader role in mobile devices, as well as strengthen its Office business in competition with those free online applications provided by Google, Sun Microsystems and others.

Microsoft already produces a version of Office for cellphones running Windows Mobile, but there is also other software that allows users to open Office files on BlackBerrys and other devices.

Next year Microsoft will bring out the latest version of the Office product, Office 2010, including its first web-based version that allow users to access the applications online.

The announcement is to be made by Stephen Elop, president of Microsoft’s business division, and Kai Oistamo, executive vice president for Nokia’s devices unit. Microsoft has so far declined to comment on the report. nbg_logo
